Mobile Minecraft: First on the Sony Xperia, what next?
« on: May 25, 2011, 12:24:25 AM »
I found this article on the News page on the Minecraft Forum.

So... there will finally be a portable version of Minecraft! But, sadly, it will be released only one system: the Sony Xperia.
I think that over time, they should release an iPhone/iPod Touch version, because most people buy games more easily (and more foolishly) on simple systems like the App Store.
Crap dude, you better do what he says.

I think the 3ds, that will allow the game to have its 3d attributes and then minecraft would be in partnership with nintendo which would boost production rate for Mojang.
The Toad House's slogan is...
"Refresh your Body and Soul!"
Back from the dead? I think so.

Doubt Nintendo would budge on there strict copyrights let alone allowing a java/flash game that's not hard-coded on any Nintendo system. It wouldn't utilize any of the 3d's functions let alone perhaps run in that evnvrioment  I am surprised that they did decide to put it on Sony with the recent hacks and awesome sauce. They have said they want to get something out on the iphone, but with apple being sticks in the mud about everything they allow on the iphone sucks balls. I do believe that most of the Mojang team have Sony Xperia's and I wouldn't let it run past you if Sony kicked some in there direction as a "gentle promotional item" and if that's true they will never admit to it.

In total Sony does have the well rounded platform with controls, and system but they just aren't that popular and this is purely a marketing scheme if you ask me. It would boost Sony sales through the roof with recent events because they have "exclusive" minecraft mobile. Android would be easy to port minecraft over to since Android considering its built off of java.  On one token it kinda erks me terribly knowing that this is most likely a kick back from Sony and a ploy, but on the other side of that token I know an Iphone version will be coming out eventually as stated by notch and during the seananners/machinima live along with twitter confirmations.

The even worse thing is just keep tacking on that ever so growing list of crap for minecraft WHEN IT ISENT EVEN DONE BAH!

Oh and as an side note the Xperia's is a Verizon exclusive only here in the US thats just doomed to fail before it even begins..

Verizon=   or :suicide: take your pick, end result is the same.

Which interview? Still have to go threw all the leaps, bounds, hoops, and crap with Nintendo which is probably why if he said maybe on the 3DS. Figure this, how is it going to get on the DS? flash card? by the time it hits the DS most ppl will either have it on there sony or iphones at that point.

Well, Minecraft Pocket Edition came out for iOS...

I'm sure they're stopping it there.

Problem is you have to pay I think it was 7.99 for minecraft mobile on the Iphone. All it is is CLASSIC MINECRAFT!! no monsters, no updated items, nothing. Until the do anything with it, it really is a complete waste of time and money. This of course saddened me and also did not surprise me. I vote for a fail whale emoticon, cause thats what I would use right now.

It's $6.99 and they are adding items and mobs and health, etc, in later updates. The app files on the iPhone prove this with items.png and other files, etc...

So, now, we have Minecraft: Pocket Edition on Android and iOS.
And soon, updates will be rolled out that contain weapons, tools, and some mobs.

I think the last update they released made the Pocket Edition feel like the ol' Alpha.
Crafting, enemies, animals, ores, tools... they added the requirements for fun.
I also personally think that the "Split Touch Controls" option helps with the terrible touchscreen controls. This setting puts a cursor in the middle of the screen so you don't need to aim with your thumbs.
