Good Mod combos?
« on: June 05, 2012, 09:02:15 PM »
I have been trying to find a perfect mod combination that will maximize my overall experience as a Minecraft player. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You should check out Optifine for sure.

If you want to stay closer to Vanilla MC, I'd recommend the Thirst Mod and Ultra Hardcore (They make Survival more challenging). For Creative purposes, Mods like TooManyItems and SinglePlayerCommands are helpful as well.

If you really want to stray away from Minecraft Vanilla though, you should try Technic Pack. After getting somewhat bored of Vanilla, I found Technic and it is like an entirely new game. Along with the Technic Launcher it comes with Tekkit, Yogbox, Hack/Mine Mod and VoxelModPack. If you ever get tired of one pack or don't like it for some reason, there is always three others to play.

I will second the vouch for Optifine. Minecraft runs 150% better with it, the difference really is noticeable. I am at a point right now where if I can't run Optifine I will not play any minecraft because of how much of a damn resource hog it is. The kicker is I really have a nice beefy computer too. Minecraft runs pretty decent on it but it runs even better when Optifine is cruising full speed.

I generally don't go mod crazy when it comes to MC, I mostly change the texture packs here and there and try to add functionally to the game IE wireless redstone mod. The Toy Soldiers mod was really fun. I re-created a map from Age Of Empires 3 and mashed 3 armys together. It was epic :awesome:  My suggestion to you is look around on ModMC or other popular mod sites and see which ones catch your eye and experiment.  :3

I'm not a fan of puppeteers but I've a nagging fear
