« on: October 25, 2012, 11:28:28 AM »
Figured anybody that wanted to see it, here are some reference pictures I took yesterday for a laptop repair with a broken screen. Took me 4 1/2 hours to fully complete. FUN FUN!

Hopefully you didn't have to pull arms-and-legs to get that replacement screen. Most manufacturers of laptops want you to buy a new one, and not buy a replacement screen. Even though I don't have experience replacing a screen in a laptop, I've heard enough stories from colleges and classmates over how much of a pain-in-the-ass it can be to get a replacement screen.

Take a moment to ponder how amazing it is that everything in a typical laptop is crammed so tightly in there, and how the whole thing can be kept cool. You did keep all the screws and whistles in order too, right :P. (That first picture doesn't persuade me of your organizational skills.)

Final question: Was the laptop repaired? New screen work? Or was the procedure a failure?

Was a tedious task but you can buy replacement screens all day long from Amazon. We didnt go through a direct manufacturer they do rip your ass off for them. Screen ordered was the exact model number and part number we needed and was like 70-80 bucks, well worth to have it fixed since nothing else was wrong with it.

as for my organization skills see cardboard screw holder I made :D

Nothing went wrong with this repair. (hence why it took me 4 1/2 hours!) You have to be gentle, have the utmost patience, and document document, document! Plus having a nice pdf showing you how to take it apart helps too ^__^ Tested everything under the sun screen worked everything went back together soothly and I am getting few drinks from the deal from my boss
