Minecraft: Old Farts Mod Suggestions
« on: April 11, 2013, 11:45:22 PM »
Because YouTube isn't link friendly, I decided I'd make this topic as a way to suggest mods/plugins to Miles and Poptart. Please remember Client side or Bukkit plugins only. I'll try to keep the original topic updated with suggested mods. I'm a bit behind on Minecraft myself so I'm relying on others to build up the topic :P.

Optifine http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/249637-151-optifine-hd-b2-fps-boost-hd-textures-aa-af-and-much-more/
This is for Evilpoptart specifically. I noticed in the videos you have choppy FPS, this mod allows you to change effects more than Minecraft's original settings. You can optimize FPS by turning off some of the fancy effects Minecraft has added that make the game more resource demanding. You'll be happy to hear that it also allows you to turn off rain.

FireFix http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-mods/firefix/
Restores fire to what it was back in the old days.

This thread was a great idea. It lets us talk about mods outside of a specific video in our Minecraft series. Don't forget I also take texture pack suggestions too. :)

I think Evilpoptart does have Optifine installed. I'll have to ask him again, as his video is indeed, choppy. Last I checked it has to do with his Laptop's video card.

As of video set 2, here's a list of mods I want to showcase at some point or another.
1) More of Zombe's Mod Pack (This is called the swiss-army knife of mods after all. It could take multiple video sets to show this mod off.)
-1a) A bukkit anti-wallhack mod. (Zombe's Mod Pack includes a wallhack, and I wanted to use both at the same time to showcase the anti-wallhack working.)
2) Rei's Minimap
3) Nxt Health Bar
4) Mine Little Pony
5) Optifine (From my end.)
6) Exp Bottles (Mod that lets you fill bottles with your own exp.)
7) Too Many Items
8) Worldedit CUI
9) Improved Chat
10) Water Shader
11) Void Fog Remover

Most of that list was composed from this: http://fyreuk.com/wiki/server-info/suggested-client-mods/ and looking briefly at Bukkit mods that caught my interest.

Miles would be correct. I do use optifine for running minecraft right now, the issue is I don't think my laptop knows what video card to choose from even though I have it set for the better one. (I have two video cards in my laptop) For some reason even with optifine installed my laptop just pukes on minecraft. It could be because I am running fraps at the same time, however that may not be the case.

Sadly I have to figure out a quick solution soon due to I don't have access to my normal computer when we record the MC videos. I haven't turned down the view draw distance yet, I really don't want to do that but if I have to I may not have a choice in the matter.

You're computer smart, unlike me, so you've probably already tried a few of these. There are a few suggestions here that may work: http://www.forumopolis.com/showthread.php?t=105835

My friend told me he also experienced an issue like this, he went to his graphics card's settings and it was set to power saver. Yours may be like that as well however since I'm unfamiliar with that issue, it could be an internal thing I'm unaware about. He told me it was as simpler as changing the setting to performance mode and then all of his games ran beautifully.

Fixed my minecraft lag and frame issue. Updated video card drivers and further tweaked my NVIDIA performance settings. I believe it was the PhyX setting defaulting to the on board video card.

I R Happy Nao!
